Polonaise

Polonaise

I was inspired to make this dress after seeing Pirates of the Caribbean.
It is one of the dresses that Elisabeth Swan wears in the movie.

I found a pattern for such a dress in "Patterns of Fashion 1 Englishwomen's dresses and their construktion c. 1660-1860" Janet Arnold.
The pattern is on page 39. I made the petticoat longer because I don't have period schoes.
I used the
pattern from
this dress
But I used the
method to pull
the dress up
from this one

The corset.

Found a corset pattern on the internet wich looks a lot like the one of Elisabeth. It is on a page of the Costumers manifesto, www.costumes.org.
And a picture of how it looks when assembled.
